“Fish! Holy shit! Put some clothes on!” Magnis yelled at his friend leaning on the doorway completely naked.
Hillary of course was eyeing him up while the rest of them were covering their eyes or turned away.
“I heard noises, one can’t bother with clothes when his friends might be in trouble.”
“Fish… The noises you probably heard were over three minutes ago,” Magnis said.
“Oh…” He paused for a moment. “What’s Yang doing on the floor?”
Magnis lowered his hand to explain and quickly remembered why his hand was covering his eyes in the first place. “Can you put some clothes on? I really don’t want to talk to you right now.”
Everyone in the room laughed except Fish and Hillary who shot Magnis a mean glance.
“Fine.” He turned around and said, “Sorry if you’re too insecure to appreciate the human body.”
“That was odd,” Ken said.
“Look at this,” Laura said as she lifted Yang’s sleeve to show a large red bump.
“What the hell is that?” Ginger said appalled.
“It looks like that is where he injected himself,” said Magnis. “I don’t know why it’s so huge. I never had anything like that happen to me.”
Ginger leaned closer to look, “Is it moving?”
Laura dropped Yang’s arm at the obvious movement inside the inflammation and she stood up quickly. Everyone took a step away from Yang’s body.
Magnis asked, “He said he was getting bit by mosquitoes too, did you see one on the bump Laura?”
She answered still shocked at what happened. “I… I don’t know. Maybe I guess there was one around it. I’m not going to look again.”
“Ok, everyone stop. There has to be a logical explanation of why Yang suddenly crazed out and attacked Ken and I.”
“And me!” Hillary exclaimed.
“And Hillary,” Ginger added.
“I don’t see how any amount of injections combined with bug bites could make a person act this way. Yang is a pretty reserve person, doesn’t get angry, just annoyed,” Laura said.
Coming back to the group dressed and hearing the last bit of conversation, Fish added his thoughts. “Only thing we can do is wait for him to wake back up and talk to him about it.”
Taking the opportunity to make fun of him again Magnis raised his hand to cover his eyes.
“Real funny Magnis, real funny,” he said.
“He’s right though,” Magnis said lowering his hand and smiling amused at himself.
“Alright, let’s all go sit down in the living room and wait. No way The Ken is going back to sleep with him in here to start with, nor does The Ken want to with something weird going on.”
Everyone else nodded in agreement. They were all feeling tired enough to sleep before but were very awake now.
Ginger leaned on him and patted his chest comforting him. “Anyone hungry and know how to cook eggs?”
They all walked out of room except Hilary who took one last look at Yang still wondering what was going on with him. It all seemed so unlike him to start with; she just didn’t understand what any of the things had to do with each other. Fish was right though, the best thing to do was wait. He is so smart she thought leaving the room.
Before they all gathered in the kitchen and dining area everyone who wasn’t fully dressed put all their clothes on. Afterwards they gathered to argue about who was going to cook. Fish said he did his part cooking the burgers they ate for dinner.
After only a minute or so more of arguing Magnis and Laura were competitively cooking eggs to see who could come up with the better dish.
Magnis had cheated by turning up Laura’s burner when she was cracking an egg and caused her food to burn and stick to the pan. As payback, when he proudly displayed the dish he made, she knocked it out of his hands with a well place telekinetic blast making a mess on the floor.
Ginger scolded the two for wasting good food and made them both clean up the mess. She took over and ended up making a bunch of fried eggs for everyone. Laura and Magnis were told that they still owed the group a meal at some point during their vacation.
It had been at least an hour since Ken knocked Yang out and no one had checked on him since they were all sat down in the other room.
He got up from the table and Ginger asked him, “Where you going?”
“The Ken feels he needs to check on Yang. The Ken hit him pretty hard and it’s been a while, just want to be sure he is still breathing.”
“Good idea, I’ll come with you,” she said.
The pair got up and left to their room.
They came back quickly and started talking at the same time. After looking at each other a brief moment, Ken let Ginger speak.
“He’s gone!”
Casually Fish said, “He probably realized what he did and wanted to avoid confrontation so he just went back to his room. Check it out and see if he is sleeping.”
“Hmm, ok,” she agreed.
Some seconds later Ken called for the group to come over to the hallway.
Everyone crowded in the hallway and peered into Yang’s room.
With the light on they could see blood on his pillow.
“Whatever happened to him, there is blood on the floor too and his sheets are all messed up. You think he is possessed?” Hillary asked in a scared voice.
“Possessed? By what?” Laura asked her.
“Pff, I was just thinking out loud. We’ve all seen horror movies haven’t we? Maybe he turned into a zombie.” She put her arms out mocking the behavior of a zombie. Noticing that no one was impressed with her imitation she stopped and remained quiet.
“Check the other parts of the house. I don’t know, maybe he went to the bathroom, something simple like that,” Magnis said.
They all split up and searched the cabin.
A few minutes later they converged in the living room sitting in its couches and chairs.
Laura flopped down on the couch and leaned on Magnis. “Anyone find traces of him?”
Everyone said their own forms of nothing.
“Did anyone check outside?” Ken asked getting up.
Again the same answers.
“I’ll go,” Ginger said. “I just realized that I forgot to take my toiletry bag out of the SUV anyways.
“Kay,” Ken said leaning in for a kiss.
The cabin door shut as Ginger went outside.
Everyone was quiet, even Magnis who usually had something to say.
“I’m going to go to the bathroom,” Hillary announced.
Magnis put his arms behind his head. “Have fun don’t bring anything back.”
“You’re so gross,” Hillary said immediately.
“He’s always like that,” Laura said.
Magnis smiled to himself and looked over at the other two guys in the room who just shook their heads at him.
He sat upright. “Oh come on. If someone says to everyone in the room that they are going to the bathroom, they are almost begging to have someone say something. Can’t blame me for coming up with something to counter with.”
The room was quiet, no one giving him the pleasure of a response to add to his self entertainment.
Ginger came rushing into the house holding her bag.
“Brrr, it’s cold out,” she sat down on Ken’s lap and dropped the bag next to the chair.
Hillary teleported just above Ginger and fell onto her lap.
“Oof! Dang it Hillary, get better control of your teleportation!”
“It’s Yang, I saw him out the window!”
“What was he doing?” Laura asked sitting up.
“I don’t know. I was just leaving the bathroom and turned the light off when I saw him looking in threw the window. He had a weird look on his face, just like I said, he is possessed by something!”
Ken feeling annoyed now that two girls were sitting on him, he grabbed onto an arm from each of them and stood up at the same time as getting them on their own feet.
Magnis nudged Laura with his shoulder and she moved off of him to let him stand up.
Everything was suddenly feeling like it was happening in slow motion. Magnis was opening his mouth about to say something when Yang appeared between him and Ken. He punched Ken in the face forcing him to sit back down in the chair at the same time he kicked Magnis in the chest knocking him back onto the couch just missing Laura.
Fish got up from his own chair and swung his left fist at Yang. Yang’s hands blazed brighter and he swung his own arm out just under Fish’s and deflected his arm.
Laura and Ginger at the same time pushed their telekinetic force at Yang who dodged each blast of fire-tipped energy. The one from Laura hit Fish in the chest and knocked him back. The one from Ginger caused something across the room to break.
Ken got back up out of his chair quickly and charged up his hand with electricity. He knew that he was able to render Yang unconscious before, whatever it was that was causing him to act this way, hopefully another nap would get him out of it.
Before Ken’s fist could collide with Yang, he teleported again. Time seemed to flow normally again.
Ken stumbled forward from his target disappearing on him and looked around. Everyone was breathing heavy both scared and nervous.
“Did you see the look on his face?” Hillary pointed out.
“Yah,” Ginger and Laura said at the same time.
“He seemed like he was way out of it,” Ken said.
“Whatever happened to Yang, he isn’t just going to go away. He’s going to come back.”
Not more than half a second after he spoke the words his eyes widened as a sandy figure assembled just behind Hillary.
Ken and Ginger saw too and were in mid yell to alert Hillary when she herself disappeared as Yang’s arm passed through her image.
She reappeared behind Yang and put her arm out. She grabbed onto him by his chest with her tether ability and swung him halfway around before throwing him up against the wall.
His body started to dissolve again when Ginger added her powers to hold him still. Each time he attempted to teleport away they pushed with their ability harder on him. Thin intertwined lines almost invisible twisted their way out of the twin’s hands and pushed onto Yang.
His face was twisted with anger and the color was drained from him. He thrashed about and flung spit from his lips.
“Look at his ear,” Laura said.
“A little busy concentrating right now,” Ginger said.
Laura got closer to him and saw that there was a lot of crusted blood alongside his head.
“How could we not have noticed that before?” she said.
“What are we going to do with him is what I’d like to know,” Hillary said struggling to keep focus on her power. “I can’t keep this up forever you know.”
Suddenly Yang went completely limp and his hands went normal. The twins held their ability strong both suspecting that he may have been trying to trick them to let down their guard.
“What the hell?” Fish yelled.
From out of Yang’s ear a long and thin purple worm slowly crawled out of his head.
Hillary and Ginger at the same time dropped their spark powers and screamed. Both scared and disgusted they ran away from him. Yang’s body dropped to the ground at the release of their tethers.
Magnis spit out swears as he jumped off the couch and along with everyone else moved farther away from the monstrous scene unfolding in front of them.
“What is it?” Hillary screamed.
“I have no idea,” her sister yelled back at her.
The worm fell onto the floor in a bloody splat and pointed upright. If flickered what seemed to be spikes sticking out from all over its body.
The group watched in horror as it started to get fatter and shake violently.
“Maybe it’s dyeing?” Fish said.
It swelled to at least triple its size and popped.
The girls in the group screamed and the guys yelled in surprise.
The worm looked a bit smaller than it had prior to swelling up, but was now accompanied by six other similar worms.
“Oh my God, there is one for each of us! Let’s get out of here!” Ginger yelled.
